Google Ads Tracking Template and Custom Parameter

Google doesn’t provide users with the enough detailed information about who clicked their ads, they allow users to install 3rd party trackers and this could be Google analatics. With these trackers, PPC managers can get more data about the users which they can then use to improve their ads campaigns & targeting.

To track sources, campaign and ad group

  1. Go to Account setting → tracking add this {lpurl}?utm_medium=adwords&utm_campaign={_campaign}&utm_source={_adgroup}
  2. Go Campaigns settings → columns → check custom parameters & tracking templates
  3. Go Campaigns list → edit custom parameters of each name= campaign & value = group name

If you want to track which ad and keyword

Go to Account setting → tracking add this {lpurl}?utm_medium=adwords&utm_campaign={_campaign}&utm_source={_adgroup}&utm_content={creative}&utm_term={keyword}

the creative will return the ad id andd if you want to return the ad name you need to add a name to each ad using custome parameters like we did for campaigns and ads groups but that will reset the ads
